Mine and my wifes video cards both got fried on the same surge in the same night. Both of our cards were on surge protectors and on both computers, only the cards got fried. Why did this happen and what can I do to protect my video cards from this happening again?

That is just bad luck. You may want to check the surge protector and see if you can find one that surpresses a bigger surge. If you don't have one with battery-backup, you may want to consider that. It helps with brown outs.

Make sure the surge is not old or wearing. Could be that there was accidentaly tooo much power and ure video card fried.

Another possibilty is maybe ure PSW (power supply) is wearing out. OR ANOTHER posiblity is that ure video cards fans died out. i dont know which one happened but make sure u have sepreate surges so they dont share the equal power.

Get surge protectors with high "Joules" numbers. The higher the number, the more surge it will suppress.Try getting them with at least 2500 Joules.
