I think it would be much more efficient for you to help them maintain a writing pad, and a good ink pen at the desk, along with a very detailed printed sheet explaining the Motel's rates, rules, etc..

Your Grandparents need to be focused on efficient customer service, and that can just a easily be accomplished with these methods, instead of learning sign language.

Also, prepare the same type of documents for Spanish, and any other languages they may deal with on a regular basis.

If your Grandparents are thoughtful and have these items prepared, and are willing to spend the few extra minutes using the pen and paper or other aids, they will have happy clients who can see their desire to serve and assist.

You could find them some classes to take, or maybe buy them a video or a book. But can't they write things for the deaf customers? Most deaf people don't expect the general public to know sign language. And how often does this issue come up? Not all deaf people know sign language - many read lips instead.

Putting a question mark at the end of a statement does not magically turn it into an actual question.
