We are considering moving to Boston from the San Francisco Bay Area. We live in a really nice suburb right now (great schools, community, outdoor access, etc). Cost of housing is not really an consideration. We want a great community with preferably fantastic public schools. Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you want close to Boston and Urban = Newton #1
Just outside Boston but very excellent town/schools = Marblehead, Scituate, Wellesley, Weston, Winchester
Further away (more difficult ot commute) = Hamilton (polo club etc)

Newton has been voted the safest city, has excellent schools and is right outside of Boston. Newton has a variety of areas, some elegant and some middle class. Wayland is a little west of there and has been ranked the #1 school system for years. It's a little more rural than Newton. Dover and Sherborn have excellent schools and expensive homes on large pieces of property - it's horse country! Wellesley has lovely old money homes. You can go to greatschools.com to check out statistics on any school in any city. Good Luck!

Newton, Wellesley, Weston, Lincoln-Sudbury for the North Shore and for the South Shore (a little farther away from the city but closer to Cape Cod) Duxbury (excellent beach), Hingham, and Cohasset. You might want to consider taking a look at Boston magazine. They publish school ratings occasionally and have specific info. such as average MCAS and SAT scores.

I would say Newton, hand's down is the best city in the area. You're close to the city, yet it's beautiful, has great school, parks, safety. Probably everything you could look for. Come for a visit and check it out!

Millis, MA. It is close to several train stations if you want to commute into town. It is a small, safe town where everybody knows their neighbors and the schools have excellent teacher/student ratios. Lots of successful people went to school there.
