the DS Lite will only play DS games and GBA games.
it will not play the bigger GB or GBC[olor] games.
the GBA game will stick out of the DS Lite the same way that GB/GBC games stick out of the GBA
why in the world doesn't it play older games? good question.

i dont know i would say no though since the ds wouldnt play them. i dont know why the ds wont though

No, it won't. It plays gameboy advance games though.
