Neil Diamond and Neil Young are BOTH singers/songwriters. They both had their beginning of fame in the late 60's and early 70's but have different styles of music. I enjoyed both when I was a kid and still do Neil Diamond still performs-mostly in Vegas, I think, and has nearly always recorded solo-but he has had hits with other singers-Barbra Striesand ("You Don't Bring Me Flowers") won a Grammy back in the 80's. Neil Young got his start as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash&Young but now records and performs mostly as a solo act. In fact he released a new CD early this year, he is very talented-but I have read that he is very difficult to work with. His song "Southern Man" caused such a furor in the south that the group Lynard Skynard wrote&recorded "Sweet Home Alabama" as a response to the insult they felt had been given by Neil Young--that, I believe is what gave them their real boost into prominence in the rock scene. Give them both a listen--good music from both, in my opinion.

Messrs Diamond and Young were both big musical stars in the 70s. Diamond sings [and composes] pop and love ballads. Young sings [and also composes] rock-n-roll [some neo-country and some grunge]. Both still perform and tour, and Mr. Diamond still has a BIG fan base, selling out arenas in major markets.

yes Neil Diamond sings for people who arent that cool and Neil Young is part of Crosby Stills Nash and Young and is famous for Southern Man. OK Neil Diamond is not my favorite singer but I guess you can be kind of cool to like him! lol
