"1995: For the first time, though not the last, the government of Sudan offers the US all of its files on bin Laden and al-Qaeda. The US turns down the offer. Bin Laden had been living in Sudan since 1991, because there were no visa requirements to live there. Sudan was surveilling him, collecting a "vast intelligence database on Osama bin Laden and more than 200 leading members of his al-Qaeda terrorist network... [The US was] offered thick files, with photographs and detailed biographies of many of his principal cadres, and vital information about al-Qaeda's financial interests in many parts of the globe." Hamburge helper, i never blamed Clinton, in his interview however, he said he did everything to stop Osama, when in fact he did not. I don't think it was his fault, i think it was Osama's

The Clinton Administration and the CIA knew about bin Laden and al qaeda before 95. Clinton never had any conversations with Sudanese officials about extradited Bin Laden. Even the 911 Commission found no evidence to prove this. Then again no one in Washington knew about bin Laden or al qaeda. terrorism wasn't a priority back then. you can't blame Clinton.

Counterterrorism official Richard Clarke wrote a letter about a terrorist attack in New York City in august 2001. Condi Rice completely ignored this warning. Clinton came so close to killing bin laden in 1999 but he escaped a missile strike organized by Clinton. Clinton did a lot to fight terrorism. More than Bush before 911.

In the interview Clinton didn't say he did everything. He said tried and "regret" not catching him. He admits that he failed somewhat. However Right wingers rebuke Clinton and blame him.

That's definately what happened. Clinton did NOT take terrorism seriously enough! 9-11 may have happned under Bush but it was a mere 9 months into his first term which means that the planning and growth of those terror cells had to have occured well into the Clinton administration.
