I don't really think scary movies are all that scary...but....these are some that did get my heart pounding a bit more than normal.
1. The Shining
2. Psycho
3. What Lies Beneath
4. The Ring (when she crawled out of the T.V. set!!! OMG)
5. The Omen
6. Rosemary's Baby
7. The Grudge was a bit freaky too!!
Notice that most of these are older one's. Today they rely too much on visual effects and it makes the situation less real.

It's an old one, but one of the scariest movies I've ever seen was "Deliverance", with Burt Reynolds. I think it was produced in the early '70's. That movie haunted me for a long time.
I thought "Training Day", with Denzel Washington, was pretty scary too. I had never seen Denzel in a role like that. He totally played it too! I had to keep reminding myself "...he's ACTING! It's a movie!!"

The grudge no doubt. Everyone sais the boy is the scariest, but he isnt. Its the F U C K Ing mother that creaps me out. all the boy does is open his pie hole and sound like a cat...the mother can bend her body in different way and she has a scary face plus she makes the creapy noise that is for sure to haunt peoples dreams...it sure haunted mine.

There are diff rent levels of scary. For chilling I would say that Jeepers Creepers was scarry the way it went from a completely bright movie to very dark and you didn't get a good look at him till near the end. Gorry is probably Saw.
