You have to do a cost/benefit analysis. Is going with a cheaper doctor going to put you or your baby at risk? Then stay with your current doctor. But I would say that unless you're a high risk person and she's some kind of sweet specialist I would go with a cheaper doctor. They all had to take the same board exams, and they all go through the same review processes.

If you can't afford it maybe you could see about getting some sort of help like Medicaid or something along those lines also some doctors will work with you and give you diffirent rates. If not maybe you could find out if they will let you set up some sort of payment plan so you don't have to pay it all at once. If none of that works then you would have to change Dr.s but I would try everything else possible first. Good Luck.

yeah...i would change too. You could also check into finding what kind of insurance you have and maybe changing it. I know that people with PPO insurance usually pay the full office visit depending on what the Doc asks for and has a deductable and HMO's usually have co-pays but I would definitely check into it.

What is your definition of a perfect doctor? And if you feel that strongly that she is the best in town...WHY GIVE THAT UP. Do you know it took me 15 years to find the perfect doctor and I pay a high fee for her....I would pay more if she asked. Stick with yor doctor...and work out your budget.

Check with your local welfare office for pregnancy clinics. Pre-natal care is so important that many towns have these for people who have no insurance(they can also help you apply for medicaid if you qualify) Doctors donate their time to these free clinics and even pay for you to go to the office for ultra-sounds and tests they can't do there. I had to go to one of these with my first for awhile. Then I got medicaid and got to see the very same doc. I now have private insurance, but I went back to the same doc. She delivered all three of mine.

If you feel comfortable with her, I would not change doctors. If you have health insurance find out up front what the insurance company will pay and what you have to pay. I would then talked to the doctor or her accountant and see what arrangements you can make. It took my husband and I four years to pay off the doctor who delivered our last child.

If you are comfortable with her... feel safe, secure and trust her... stay! I had a BAD doc for my first baby and a wonderful one for my second that cost me a lot more but in the end, the experience I had the second time was worth the price. Trust your instints.

How much is to much? Are you insured? Some times a smaller practice has it's advantages. But some times a smaller less known Dr. can cause problems with availability and appointments.

well that depends on how much your worth or the difference between what kind of treatment you need if her expertise is worth it stick with her if you are just going to her for basic ob/gyn theres plenty of good ones out there.
