Just explain to him that when he turns thirteen, he will understand why Superman has to wear his underwear on the outside of his pants, especially when he's around Wonder Woman.

That's not his underwear (there is no Y-front!). They're more like a pair of "dance shorts" which he wears over his blue leotard to give his hips and butt some definition. Superman wears his underwear where they belong...UNDER his clothes!

first of all.. they aren't underwear they are a seamless part of the tights... second of all... the original artist (jerry seigal) added the red area to balance out the bottom and top of the costume.

how abt this?bcos he is from outspace & that is what they wear in his home planet ,planet krypton
so he is sort of wearing his national costume,just like japanese wear kimonos & korean hanbok on special occassions
