The war in Iraq has nothing to do with the war on terror. Except it has now become a terrorist breeding ground, Bush and his criminal war has become the best recruiting tool of the terrorist that they ever had.

Saddam would have gone nuclear, was working at it, and was actively buying votes on the UN Security Council. He broke the conditions of the armistice, and the US had perfectly legal reasons to take him out.

The US has no legal reason yet to take out Iran, who is now having great fun as a major state sponsor of terrorism. If they and Syria didn't exist, the common folks of the Middle East would be building WalMarts and buying plasma TVs and enjoying a peaceful family life throughout the Middle East tomorrow.

There is no easy or correct way to run a war, especially when you've got one hand tied behind your back.

And it's pretty obvious that the only other options are extortion or surrender.

I recommend reading "The Pentagon's New Map" by Thomas Barnett. It's the general war plan, though many aspects of it have yet to be installed because of our government's lack of unity and the usual endless congressional haggling.

And as for the assessment of our Intelligence services - - - ugh! Talk to Israel if you want competent intelligence...

Yes, indeed! The troops are being slaughtered by the insurgency there. Our troops' (illegal occupation) has fueled the ever-strengthening insurgency. The end result, a FAR HIGHER risk of terror attacks by al-Qaeda and affiliated groups worldwide! I think Bush is too incompetent to see what's going on in Iraq right now. All he cared about is the black Iraqi gold (oil, in other words) so his buddies at the oil companies to get their hands on. What that nut and his oil exec buddies know is that they have the blood of almost 2,700 dead soldiers in their hands! You get the rest of the story.

Of course it has. Piss people off, and they will want to get even. Remember, the threats aren't only in the U.S. Look at all the acts that have been attributed to terrorism around the world since the war for oil started.

Contrary to what some may think ( the DFI Bush is keeping us safe) terrorists are very patient. They waited 8 years so whats another 8 or ten.

Get real people. Bush is indeed a troublemaker!

I've answered this question at least three times today already.

Why will people not understand that at this point why we went there is practically irrelevant.

We are there, and if we want to continue our way of life as we know it, radical islamic terrorism must be put down.

Winning the war in Iraq is critical to putting down these terrorists.

We should have gotten Bin Laden when we had him in our sights at tora bora. The Iraq war was just Bush's payback to Saddam for trying to kill his daddy; we get the bill for it and earn the world's hatred.

Look, they hated us before. Whatever we do they will hate us. So, why not go on the offensive and start taking some of these guys out. If we sit back, they can organize better. And, there have been not attacks and several thwarted attacks since the war on terror.

That's what the news say, we are not safer today than before 9/11.

Well of course we have. In effect we really have become the great Satan. I saw no point in invading a weakly defended country - for no reason that made sense and having no exit strategy.
