Yes it is. Watch and see if they tease the ones they DON'T like....if they take time out of their busy day to tease YOU...then YOU must be worth it right?!

It depends on how the teasing is done. It's a very fine line, and there are often age and gender politics involved.

There are some males who don't know any other way to show a female that they like her, so they tease her. Sometimes it comes off looking clueless. The male wonders why the female gets angry -- hey, he's paying attention to her and joking around with her like he does with his buddies, so why doesn't she get it? -- and the female just gets angry because what he's doing makes no sense or makes her angry or insecure. Two people speaking two very different social languages.

Teasing can also be malicious, cruel and extremely passive-aggressively hostile. Both parties have to know what's going on, what the joke is, and be okay with it. If one person is not okay with any part of it, then teasing comes very close to bullying, if it doesn't turn into outright bullying.

If any part of teasing makes someone uncomfortable, sad, or depressed, it's crossed the line. If you're teased and it makes you laugh, smile or think the other person is kinda cute and funny, then it's okay. But as with any joke, it's not always easy to pull off. Some people can tease and others can't. What's said to you by one person in one situation is a joke, and in another would be a total insult.

So look at the context of what's said. Think about how it makes you feel. Think about the age and gender of the person teasing you. Think how well you know this person, or if anything has changed in your situation. Only the individual can know if it's really teasing or if it's verbal bullying.

Hope this helps. Cheers, K
