placed in nursing homes that are extremely expensive and the care is lacking in respect and regard. The people working in these places are often there for the pay check, not the well being of the residents. I'd like to hear about people experiences in the U.S and in other countries and cultures.

Repuglicans, don't you just love them, they don't think that they could ever lose their job or grow old and need help. Not one of them is immune to a disease or and accident that will disable them and make them unable to work, and yet they attack you for asking a question about it.

I agree, I think we should cut back dramatically on welfare for the young and lazy and do a better job in regards to the elderly who worked their whole lives. But in other cultures it is very common for the elders to live with the family. Not so in this country. You can't blame the government for that, one can only look in the mirror when they begin to point that finger.

in other countries it is common for the ederly to remain in the family home and they are loved and treated with respect ... also in many poorer countries you dont see so many fat, lame, and crippled old folks, theyre still up and cleaning the house and active, and you dont see very many at all walking with a limp ... americans love to be injured and whine i think ... just look and notice how many people over 50 walk with a limp or ride around in electric buggies in the US ... then take a trip to the philippines for instance ... you will notice a distinct lack of limpers there.
