How do I keep armadillos from digging up the yard?

Live in Missouri. Have only had armadillos here for a few years. Are migrating north from Arkansas. Want to do it safely without hurting the armadillo.

In Florida the babies are born in February so it is the most active time for nest building. Armadillos are looking for food, grubs, worms, etc. Your lawn must be full of the food source or they wouldn't be there..... Use a grub granular insectide on your lawn and shrub areas.

If you find their holes, buy a clay pot and force it into the opening like you were placing a potted plant in the entrance... I understand they can't dig through them and will frustrate themselves...

Borrow a small animal trap. Fill a knee high nylon with soil and worms and place in trap. HOPEFULLY you'll catch an armadillow NOT a raccoon like we did.

Check with your county wildlife agency. In Florida you have to have a permit to LET THEM GO!!

call a wildlife control service. If you dont get rid of them they wont leave on thier own.

Are you sure you don't want to just sit on the back porch, drink beer, and shoot them when they show up. We did that with possums when I was a kid. Nothing like good clean fun with a gun.
