I think everyone except murderers and child abusers deserve respect.
Anorexia is a tragic psychological illness. No-one chooses to be anorexic. Sure, I can respect sufferers of anorexia.

The question of respect doesn't arise here. Anorexia is a severe and life threatening illness that no one chooses to have - we need to show compassion for those who suffer from it, not condemnation. Much research still needs to be done to find the causes of this disease - I think it's too simplistic to put it down purely to a desire to be slimmer, or a lack of self esteem.
If you meet someone who is anorexic, please treat them with kindness, as they have enough of a problem battling against their illness without feeling that you are against them too.

Can you respect people with cancer, or asthma, or arthritis?
Or how about those suffering from phobias that are all but crippling them?
Anorexia is not a matter of choice, it's an illness.

They are hungry, they just don't eat. And, no I can't respect them, it's more disgusting than being morbidly obese.
