Since 0.36 can be expressed as a percentage (36%), it can also be written as a fraction, which would be 36/100. 36 stands for the number of knights that wore new armor, and the 100 stands for the total number of knights. The second fraction would be 828/X. 828 is the number of knights who wore new armor, and X is the total number of knights. Your equation would be 36/100 times 828/X. When you cross-multiply, you end up the the equation:
36X=82800
X=2300.
So, 2300 knights participated in the tournament.

828/x=3600/100
36x=82800
divide each by 36
x=2300
