While some women notice "quickening" as early as 16 weeks, most don't until about 18 weeks or more. If this is your first baby, don't be too anxious — you may not be aware of your baby's movements until 20 weeks or so.

All I got was flutters (every once in a while and usually only in a certain position) at around 20 weeks. I'm 31 weeks now and she won't stop moving. Right now I would not worry about it, if by 20 weeks you still have not felt movement, call your doctor. (by then you will probably have another appointment anyway). Ask to hear the heartbeat, this should be reassuring. Also, keep in mind, around this time most doctors suggest an ultrasound. You can see first hand your little one squirming around. If your unsure, it never hurts to ask your doctor, she may let you listen to the doppler or suggest more frequent appointments to keep an eye on baby.

It's different for everyone. Sometimes you might think that you have gas, but it's actually the baby moving. If you still don't feel any movement after 20 weeks, tell you doctor. He/she may want to do a non-stress test. There is a baby monitor sold at walmart and babies r us that is also a prenatal monitor. It has head phones and a doppler thing so you can hear your babies heartbeat. That would ease your mind a lot. I have one!!! And it was great in all 3 pregnancies.

It is different for everyone! If this is your first, then you will take longer to feel it as you really don't know yet what you are waiting to feel. Once you feel the baby the first time, you'll realize that "yep, I've felt this before". It feels like a gas bubble but it can be like a little jab or it can feel like a solid hand or foot moving along your stomach. Either way, it's very tiny. Try laying on your back, staying still and put your hands on your lower abdomin, below the belly button and wait. That's usually the best way to feel the baby for the first time.

My first child, I felt at 19 weeks... my second I felt at 14 weeks. Don't worry!

16-20 weeks to feel the baby moving for the first time is the general range. If you are concerned then see your doctor and they can pick up the heart beat with a Doppler. It's worth the peace of mind. Bless you and I hope everything works out.

Well, if it were me I would call my OB. It's not good for you or the baby to stress over the possibility of a problem.
I experienced preterm labor while pregnant with my first child.... I hadn't experienced labor before so really I didn't have a clue, I wasn't feeling pain only an off and on tight feeling in my belly area. Instinctively I suspected something wasn't quite right, but again, I was afraid was "bothering" my OB... but still I called and she told me to come into the office so we could check things out. Low and behold I was dilated to a 4 and that evening was admitted to the hospital for the duration of my pregnancy.

Always, always, always trust to your instincts!! Certainly better safe than sorry. If your OB doesn't take your concerns seriously, find another doctor!! Take care... Lis

Every baby is different, I had 3 and one I felt move at 10 weeks, one at about 16 weeks and one at 20 weeks. All babies and mothers are different. And congratulations! But I don't blame you for beinc cautious. You could always call your doctor for reassurance, they will understand, under the circumstances!

i wouldnt worry. I didnt feel my baby move until 18 weeks. And then all I felt were little flutters. It got stronger as it went on. Some women dont feel their babies move until close to 25 weeks. I would just keep in check with my doc. to make sure everything is going okay, still a heartbeat and everything. I hope everything works out well for you!

It is different for everyone. You should be getting an ultrasound soon to check progression and that will reassure you. I didn't feel movement with my first until I was 20 weeks, so try not to stress too much.

A lot of women are different. With my first child I felt her around 18 weeks, but with my second it was more around 20 weeks. You should be having an ultrasound soon (around 20 weeks) to determine the size, age, etc... Hope all goes well.
