That's what I wonder. I think people drink it because it's "the thing" to do.
I've tasted beer and it tastes horrendous.

Beer is a matter of faith.
You begin each session believing, truly, that this odd-tasting stuff will make the evening more interesting.
Over the course of the night, you pass through the Beer Event Horizon; that moment when you are enjoying the beer (the act of drinking it, not the taste) more than you are enjoying the effect the beer is having on your body and mind.
Once through the BEH, you come out the other side hardly caring about the beer itself. You are at the zenith of the evening's drinking, when your head is buzzing, you're invincible, the women you meet are BOTH more attractive AND more attracted to you (remember that this is mostly an illusion: any success with the girls will be a result of meeting another one who's at her evening's zenith).
Continuing to drink after this moment is foolhardy, as you are only stoking the fires of a monster hangover and ensuring that you will have to break off foreplay because you're busting for a pee, get lost in her bizarre labyrinthine apartment and tread on her cat/hairbrush/vibrator, leading to the mysterious 'WHO WHIM' ('What happened, or who hit me?') injuries that all drinkers wake up with the next day.
Note that at no point on this rise and decline is it important to actually enjoy the taste of beer. You are acting out of faith that beer will create these sensations.

Yes they really like the taste (at least I do). Of course, I prefer certain kinds of beer to others -usually like heavy/dark beers that aren't terribly bitter.

I love the taste and crave it sometimes. The 1st one is odd but after that there is no after taste. Good With pizza

i personally don't like many beers. i have tried many different ones and finally discovered the type of beer that i like. in the beginning i didn't like beer at all and i basically forced it down my throat at parties because that was all there was lol. but now i like it, i tend to stick with molson.
