sun is a ball of ice

gas. Its just a bunch of gas atoms, mainly hydrogen. The great number of these atoms causes it to have alot of mass. This mass causes hydrogen atoms to move at a very fast speed and smash into each other. Two hydrogen atoms will stick together and form helium, a larger atom. This causes energy(heat) to be released. Otherwise known as a nuclear reaction.

so basically the sun is a star.

look up the band They Might Be Giants. They sing a song with all the info in it.
