I believe that America in general has lost its great leaders. Many of the previous generations of what were considered men's men, were seasoned combat / war veterans and had seen life in a whole different light.

This tends to change and mature a person for the better in most cases. In addition, the military taught men how to be leaders as opposed to just being in leadership. Being in leadership doesn't make you a good leader.

Remember, our first President (Washington) was a seasoned war hero who had learned how to lead men and women and ultimately a country.

The 60's unfortunately was not a great generation for raising leaders.

Other presidents such as Eisenhower, Roosevelt, etc. were veterans and had been through extensive leadership training.

Some day, Lord willing, I would like to run for a position in the Democratic party and possibly add some value, even if in a small way.

My thoughts.

I agree with catintrepid:
"For the same reason there's a lack of manly male leadership throughout American society."

Right now we just have a bunch of little boys in big suits - in the Republican party.

i'm male, white and somewhat to the left of Democrat. From my attitude the "conflict" looks to be against people who earnings from the device and then decide for to apply it to shrink the possibilities of others. it is barely an twist of way forward for history that, in this united states of america, maximum of those people have been male and white. you're taking this somewhat too individually.

They're too worried about being politically correct and not offending anyone. So they'll say anything you want to hear.

Anything but the TRUTH, that is.

Democratic men don't need to prove their penis is larger to be considered a real man.

Democratic men are like the elves in Lord of the Rings... they are more powerful, smarter, diplomatic and just plain superior to neanderthal Republican males.

BTW, JFK and Clinton sure had a lot more women love them than any Republican president. You need to rethink what a real man is.

And here I didn't think our society was intelligent enough to support women in leadership positions. If you know something I don't, please let me know.

Actually, most of the virtuous and moral males are Democrats.

Conservatives seem to think that morality and compassion aren't characteristics of a "manly" man. I disagree.
