Edgar Cayce (March 18, 1877 – January 3, 1945) (pronounced /'keɪsiː/ or "Casey") was an American psychic who channeled answers to questions on subjects such as health, astrology, reincarnation, and Atlantis while in trance. Although Cayce lived before the emergence of the New Age movement, he remains a major influence on its teachings.

Cayce became an American celebrity towards the end of his life and the publicity given to his prophecy has overshadowed what to him were the more important parts of his work such as healing (the vast majority of his "readings" were given for people who were sick) and theology (Cayce being a lifelong, devout member of the Disciples of Christ). Skeptics challenge Cayce's claim to psychic prowess, while conservative Christians also question his unorthodox answers on religious matters (such as reincarnation and akashic records). He may have been the source for the idea that California would fall into the ocean (though he never said exactly this).

Today there are several tens of thousands of Cayce students. Most are located in the United States and Canada, but Edgar Cayce Centers are now found in 25 other countries. The Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE), headquartered in Virginia Beach, is the major organization promoting interest in Cayce.

Yes, we lived very close to some of his relatives. There are still Cayces around Western Kentucky. E. Cayce grew up near and moved to Hopkinsville, Christian County, Kentucky. He became a respected Christian psychic and seer. By the time he died, I think in Myrtle Beach, North Carolina, he had quite a following.

who ? lol just kidding he was a sleeping prophet. For forty-three years of his adult life, Edgar Cayce demonstrated the uncanny ability to put himself into some kind of self-induced sleep state by lying down on a couch, closing his eyes, and folding his hands over his stomach. This state of relaxation and meditation enabled him to place his mind in contact with all time and space. From this state he could respond to questions as diverse as, "What are the secrets of the universe?" to "How can I remove a wart?" His responses to these questions came to be called "readings" and contain insights so valuable that even to this day individuals have found practical help for everything from maintaining a well-balanced diet and improving human relationships to overcoming life-threatening illnesses and experiencing a closer walk with God.

Not only have I heard about him, but there is a hugh library at Virginia Beach with all his readings there. No matter what the question is, you can find the answer. You can go for a day, or a week, but definitely go sometime. It is a wonderful experience. They used to call him the sleeping prophet. Just so he knew the person's name and exact location, Tuscon, AZ, for example, he could then tell all about the health of the person, etc. There are many great books about his life and his readings. If you are just starting your study of him, enjoy!

Yes. He is also known as the "Sleeping Prophet." Such a gifted psychic. I really enjoy reading and learning more about him.

Today, we have Sylvia Browne. Altho' she doesn't perform surgeries like Cayce did, she is still an amazingly gifted psychic. I highly recommend her to you, also.

Known by some as the sleeping psychic of where he lived... which I forget at the moment. Small place in Va. I believe. He was most famous from the mid40's to late 70's, and wrote several books. He wrote one on Atlantis that was most interesting.

He was best know, early in his career for having people write to him, and list their medical problems. He would then go into a trance, and he would pronounce ancient remedies for a cure, often in languages unknown to him in his waking state. When he awoke, he would get help in interpreting the remedies, and they seemed to work quite well.... as reported by many.

Look in th library, and do some reading, its very intertaining.

Peace

we celebrate this man in the likes of men Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, (Bad Spelling Sorry)
all who have abilities that make the normal people have insights to what can be with the wonders of life with out wars, but in order to free these men to bring us their insights to the world we had to fight more wars to protect then while they bring us civilized knowledge. Edgar was a sleeping profit.(this isn't a conceivable statement of meaning until a gave us this) jargon sleeping profit! very little was done to bring to light who he was to the modern generation, passing out of life in 1945 i believe was not an era of mediums and time travelers, it was a time of drunks and crazy wars over celebrations that lasted 40 years so it was a little slow that coming to light was something that is gone. so fabricating how great this person was can still be contemplated at the living trust foundation in Virgina Beach Virgina in his name. all libraries now honor what may never be, but it's this path that changed my life for ever as an archaeologist its suance was the key to open many people imagination to better fully understand how so close to modern time did he live with a God like presence in all he work he performed as a servent do the work for others

Yes, I have several books by him, from back in the days when I was investigating the paranormal. He is very much into the occult, astral projection, telekinesis, psychokinesis, fortunetelling, reinterpreting the past, and a whole lot of devil-worship stuff, mainly involving speaking with the dead, while in a trance.
I don't mean to judge, but when I had an interest in these types of "dark side of spirituality" I was agnostic. Once I say how very real it all was, I realized the Other Side must be real too...and whose side did I want to be on, in the end? The Bible is pretty clear about who ultimately wins the spiritual battle; but then you may not have any faith in It at all, anyway.
Tread carefully, my girl.
lol

as you can see there are a lot of people who know of him....his books are really interesting....he didn't get this "power" until he was a kid that got hit with a ball to the base of his brain...he went into a coma and in it he started talking like a man or something and "it" told his father in the room how to cure him....his brother also had something explode in his eyes when he was young (actually it was flashbulb powder/that's how they made it in the old days) and he went blind....once again his brother came to the rescue.....Edgar had one son Hugh...that i know of that if still alive may be around 80 now.....he moved to Virginia Beach and has a beautiful big Victorian kind of house...I went to it once...it was neat....it has been made into a teaching sort of school for people with special gifts like this...they also have like some palm readers and psychics there too sometimes....he moved there because in one of his "trances"...he saw the United States in a world catastrophe...and half the US was submerged under water and Virginia was on safe ground...
