My boyfriend and I did it. We were safe, we used the best condoms we could get, and I used a sponge. We did it about a week after I was supposed to ovulate (5 days before my period started) and I got my period yesterday. It's not light spotting, it's red blood, just, not as heavy as usual. Should I be worried at all?

good job on using protection. i think your safe and not expecting.
if your really that concerned try the pill or patch as well. don't forget that std's can be spread in more ways than one. have both of you been checked??

good luck.

Well, first of all, our bodies are irregular. We dont always ovulate when we are supossed to. I got pregnant on my period. Second, sperm survive for 5 days, so even if you werent ovulating on the day you had sex, you can still get pregnant after. Implantation bleeding often occurs after you get pregnant. Also, some women have periods for some or all of their pregnancies. More proof that our bodies do weird things. Go to a doc or clinic within the next 3 weeks or so (it will be too early now) and get a test done just to be sure. If you arent willing to raise a child with this guy, dont be having sex. Also, the condom is a joke. Get the Nuva Ring or something, its the most effective and safe form of BC, except for the Mirena IUD, but you are probably too young for that and its recommended for women with at least one child. Go for the Nuva Ring, but if you arent responsible enough for a child, close your legs, its not worth it.

If your worried go to the drug store and get a home pregnancy kit. It's private and if it's positive you can make decisions on your own. It sounds as though you did all the right stuff, though. Good luck whatever happens and whatever you decide. Remember, the choice is yours - it your body.

Having sex can cause your period to be unusual by itself. I think you're good to go.

No, I do not think so as long as your period was on time then you should be ok.
