yes and no i been getting my hair chemically straightened now for little more t han seven years now. it probably also depends on what you are using to straighten your hair. i use maxie glide it it does cause strands of hair to fall out but it is also do the the extensive damage i have done to my hair. i would talk to your hair stylist and ask him/her about it they probably know more than i do

No. Straightening affects the hair shaft, not the root.
