Yeah, classic sudoku requires for each column and row of the 9x9 overall square and each 3x3 subsquare, each digit from 1 to 9 appears one and only one time. That's it. The point? To train your mind to think logically.

The point of the game is to exercise your brain cells. Research has proven that word and number games, especially those involving logic can slow the loss of brain cells and thereby postpone or eliminate the dementia that can accompany aging. Besides it is fun and challenging. As far as rules go,you can't repeat a number in any line or section....each line up and down or side to side must contain the numbers 1-9 and every box section must contain the same 9 numbers.

Besides the rule about using the numbers 1 -9 as described with each puzzle, there are no further rules. They increase in difficulty and size at levels beyond easy.
They are the Japanese equivalent of crosswords, which would apparently not be easy to produce with a character-based language.

It is a game of pure logic. The rules are that you use the numbers 1 thru 9. The numbers cannot be repeated in any column, row or in any square of nine boxes.

Place the numbers 1-9 into each cell, such that the number is only placed once in each row, each column, and each box of 9 cells.

Easy.

The point is to have fun, to enjoy the process of figuring out how to place the numbers for each, and applying different approaches and methods for doing so.

In the end, though, if you find yourself not enjoying it, there is probably no point.

I enjoy them.

the only rules are that within each row, column, and smaller box you have to have each number 1-9 without repeating... it can be hard at first, but once you get the hang of it it's not bad
