Not Thomas Edison or Benjamin Franklin. Thomas Edison invented light BULBS. Benjamin Franklin tampered with electricity. No one knows who discovered light. If you are religious you probably think God. If you are a scientific type of person, then you probably think it had somthing to do with elements.

Well, if you believe the Old Testament, "God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."

But you're probably asking who invented the light bulb (or what we call the "incandescent" light bulb). That is attributed to Thomas Edison, who, working in the late 1800s, developed a practical light bulb (i.e., one that would last more than a few minutes without burning out). He tried a large number of different materials for the filament (the part that glows) - at least hundreds, possibly thousands of different materials, and finally found one that was practical.

Benjamin Franklin, who worked in the 1700s, demonstrated that lightning is an electrical discharge. He is also the inventor of the lightning rod, and of many other things, but not the light bulb.

Light is something that humans and animals have observed since they first existed, which was long before Edison and Franklin were born. The idea of the photon which is the elementary particle of light was developed by Albert Einstein.

If you are refering to the lightbulb, Thomas Edison invented the first commercially viable electric filament lightbulb.

No one DISCOVERED light! That's like asking, "Who discovered life?" Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity. Somebody from the beginning of time discovered FIRE -- which produces light.

What do you mean? Who was the first one that gave a definition to light or found out the properties of light?
