I have signed up to be a babysitter for the following websites: 4sitters.com,babysitters.com, and sittercity.com and i have not heard from ANYONE. So it has me wondering if a parent would really look on the internet for a babysitter. someone please let me know if i'm just wasting my time.

I emailed a few parents on sittercity.com a while back and have gotten jobs, but I decided not to take them. I actually posted an ad on craigslist.com saying that I was available to babysit some kids and I actually found a job that way. I only babysat for the lady for a week since I got a job. Your best bet would be to post some ads at your local grocery store. I know I used to see ads like that all the time, or like I suggested.. post on craigslist. At least if the parent was interested, they could call you and meet you in person.

And I disagree with the "no one looks on the Internet for a babysitter" comment. After I had took the babysitting job, I got at least 4 different emails for parents needing a babysitter.

You are not going to get much of a responce immediately. Lots of other people will be in need of your service but merely happen to be in the wrong part of the planet to be able to use you. Also, it will take some time before you have a 'working relationship' with your prospective employer. The responsible parent will monitor your site activities for more than a few hours to determine & digest the patterns of your internet activites prior to entrusting their child to your care. At least, I would! Don't be discouraged & understand that Monday nites are not the highest priority nites for baby sitting. Just between you me and the free world, I would venture to guess your very 1st contact will take 14 days and then, on a trial run, be 'scheduled for a short period of time on a Thursday nite! I'm not claravoyant, but I have a hunch that's the way it may play. So meanwhile, the rest of the woild is at yer fingertips to validate your applications, find new activities & certainly there are plenty away from the keyboard. Please be sure to have a nice day & I'm looking forward to congratulating you on your 1st 'best answer'!!

print up a nice printed paper & post it at your local: laundry mats, grocery stores, and churches. this would be free advertising.

it's a waste of time advertising on the net...no one is looking on there, for a serious sitter anyway.

get to work on making a cute flyer & also start handing out small business cards. that's how you get business. then, from there, once you get clients, you get business by word of mouth.
good luck!!
