I'm still contemplating whether I should wear the shirt to school or not and I can't make a decision. I view the words on the shirt the same as the meaning said to be of the confederate flag, "pride not predjudice". Should I or should I not wear the shirt to school?

Jessica H, this is the only question I've asked tonight. Do you know what you're talking about? Just saying. :))

That shirt is only racist if you are extremely close minded. It's a positive shirt, it's not like you're saying black is beautiful and white is not.

Wear it! It's the best way to find out your school's policy on that type of "pride" shirt. I really can't imagine them having a problem with it, but schools these days...

I'm assuming you are black--correct? I guess it depends on what kind of school you attend. If a white person were to wear a "white is beautiful" shirt, would there be racial issues about it? If so, it's not fair to wear your shirt. If your school has a dress code policy, the decision may be out of your hands, anyway, unless you care to fight with school administration about your right to wear the shirt.

I think its okay.
I mean, if you look at the opposite-
it would be uncool to wear a shirt that said white is beautiful.
But there has been a huge struggle to prove that black is beautiful and has a place in media in this country- so i think its a good thing.
wear the shirt.

There is nothing wrong with wearing a shirt that says "black is beautiful" but if you walk around acting like "black is better" then you're going to have a problem. We're all equal.

and dont give people thumbs down for stating the obvious

I think it would offend some. If you were white and wore a shirt with "White is hot", that would offend others. Do a test run of the shirt at the mall or wherever you'll see lots of people, and see what kind of responses you'll get.

No.

I own & wear a shirt that says "THE BEST GIRLS ARE BLACK".

I get compliments all the time particularly from middle-aged white women. The shirt is from Urban Outfitters & they make shirts like that for white ppl, whether Jewish, Italian, or Irish.

So if they can make those, you can wear yours! Peace up!

No ,it's not racist because your not saying" black is beautifulER",
your not saying your better or more attractive than any one else, your just saying your beautiful, showing your pride, as long as you don't put any one down because of race, then your not a racist, enjoy the shirt!!

I think it's more like pride. But then again, didn't the KKK wear shirts that said "White is Beautiful"
