How often have you heard a man refer to his male companion as "beautiful"? The gender of a thing has to be female for most males to express adjectives usually reserved for females. Males refer to doziers as powerful, a hunk, a brute, etc. A fine car, and a fine ship/boat have feminine lines and thus, become female.

Reason, basically its Yin and Yang energy, which is fully non-conscious within our MINDs. The normal male has a preponderance of Yang energy, whereas the female has a preponderance of Yin energy. A male cannot initiate the Yin energy within him unless he perceives it as safe to do so - one could say it goes back to the hunter and ruler of the pack thing, but I suggest its simply a matter of congruence.

If a thing is perceived by oneself and others as female [sleek, soft, smooth, stylish, beautiful, etc.,] then it's OK to refer to it with female language.

Peace

Because things like cars and even boats and problably even ships need to have a key go into a hole to start the car up or ship or whatever youre driving. And you need to turn the key after you put it in the hole. Another reason I've heard its because men that dont want to have an affair on their wives with other women, call their cars and boats "she" which takes the place of a mistress.

Think about it. Although the mechanics of cars and boats could be considered more masculine in nature, it is not the mechanics that make them appealing. A man feels more comfortable talking about the way she "purrs", or the curves on a sexy BMW, or how she handles (what heterosexual man wants to refer to the way "he" handles?). The way many men adore their automobiles, ships or motorcycles is so intimate that the terms they use just wouldn't work right with the word "he".

Mostly, Cars and such are males true loves, they'll always be there for us, and they give back, similarly to the work one would put into a relationship with a female, but with more loyalty and motivation from the parties involved

i,m a man and have noticed this myself. i can understand why it p****s some, but not all women off. my opinion, and i do say opinion, is that it,s a hold over from times when women were more or less regarded as possesions.. understand though i do not do this sometimes myself. i respect women as my equals as long as they respect themselves and men as equals and do not automaticly see adversity because of mens bad verbal habbits

well i would say because most men are mommas boys and refer everything back to there mommas. like for example most men compare there women to their mommas. they really can't help it, its just in their nature. either they want someone like her or someone not like her. plus it also kinda sounds gay for a man to refer his prize possessions to a man. IE: "hey man that new porshe is hot!" " yeah man he's really something....."
