That's a good question. I really can't say if crime has gone down in the last year because of the advancements made in it's prevention. However, after all of the Katrina evacuees came to hide out here (guess where I am), I am pretty sure it has raised dramatically.

I live in Houston Texas and since our city took in Hurricane Katrina Victims crime rate has increased. They monitored the crime from the time they entered our city until now and statistics show the increase. Weeks ago Houston residence held a meeting with Mayor Bill White asking him to send Evaucees back to New Orleans.

It has gone way up in my city and I am thinking about moving out of it. Just a few weeks ago 2 blocks away from my house a guy was bar b que'n something on his grill. These two males just walked over to his grill and started taking his meat. When the guy asked them what are you doing and get out of there. One of them pulled out a pistol and started shooting at him. The man was shot numerous times but lived through it. Just crazy stuff like that all the time.

I live in a small town. Crime in this town just stays steady. Maybe it goes up a little, maybe it goes down a little, but not by much.

I dunno. Crime's not that bad here. . .
the worst thing that happened to our little town though is that it was the home of Luke Helder, The Mailbox bomber. . .
No Joke I live in Pine Island, MN
Crime seems to have gone down here though since then; that was years ago!!

i live in a small coastal community here in california, we dont have soaring murder rates..just occasional petty thefts-purse snatching, vehicle vandelism and shoplifting. you see, a sprawling metropolis usually attracts noticable crimes..whereas small out of the way towns dont. the local law can handle a poulation of over 70.000 but not 800.000!
so our crime rate has been steady since last year with no increase in crime rate
