I'm an only child, but I always wanted a twin brother or sister, just for company if nothing else.

An only child can be lonely. But you don't necessarily need a twin -- just a brother or sister. Twins have their own special set of problems -- mainly one of identity, especially identical twins. They generally are dressed alike and their names rhyme or start with the same letter. Sometimes they feel like clones of one another. Fraternal twins can be the same or opposite genders, and are more like brothers and sisters. They often don't resemble each other, and have completely different personalities. I am not a twin, but have known many who are, and while they do share a special kind of closeness, their main complaint is that people don't recognize them as individuals, and always group them together as one.

If you want companionship, you will have to rely on your friends. But it wouldn't surprise me when you get married, that you'll have lots of children to make up for not having a live-in playmate as a child.

I am a twin, I was born 1 minute after my sis. Being a twin is ok, my sister and I got into a lot of trouble for switching classes in school, none of the teachers knew about it, but some of our friends got tickled, and told them, and of course we got in trouble, it was fun. Being a twin is not a whole lot of diff. than just being brother and sisters, except I think my twin and I are alot closer than the rest of my brothers and sisters.
