I have several ideas about robotics and local area networks as well as A.I. but I dont know what college I should go to for these kinds of technology.

You can send letter to Dean Kane and see if he let you work for him. If any crazys are out there who'll fund your idea it'll be Dean Kane, inventer of Segway. He was college dropout.

You can't learn to be an inventor, there's no such degree program. Try going for engineering because that might be an excellent way for you to learn how to put your ideas into motion and would give you valuable experience. Besides, you oftentimes can't make a living simply being an inventor, but engineering would give you the know how in order to build other things that might interest you.

Best you can do is study in a related field. I don't think there is a major that is specifically for inventing. Engineering is one that has a lot information about the workings of things.

you might want to consider majoring in engineering or computer science
