I live in america born and raised and we are the most arrogant, ignorant, and stubborn people on this planet. I do not consider myself an american, for I was born not to covet those who go against my freedom. Not the american notion of freedom, but that of GOD. And HE/SHE/IT is not jesus. I swear a lot(not all) are the most arrogant people I know. I love foreigners, for they are more open minded. I am half african american and chinese. I have friends from africa and one of my personal ones are from somolia. I don't even think people consider that we walk on land that was stolen. A land created by the labor of men and women who were tortured, raped, and murdered(not just blacks, but all non whites). But that is the american way. The good old all mighty "f*ck it" mentality. Which functions pretty well for the average american. I don't know where you come from or your ancestrial backround, but the stereotypes of americans are pretty much on point. Depressed, racist, lost, enslaved, simple minded people who think we know it all. Yeah, that's us. I live in NY so I naturally have a ********* to me, but don't get that confused with being arrogant. Because I am extremely humble. Most people here don't have a true direction, except to make money by any means neccessary. America is all about the all mighty dollar and what it can bring you. And I know you heard the saying "money can't buy happiness". Well, not here. Money buys friends, wives, and your status quo in society has to do with your income. I am islamic, but far from a fanatic. Most don't like muslims, but NY is full of them. Muslims, god body's, and 5 percenters. And I do not like the average american. But that's OK, because the average american does not even like the average american. So I blend in well. Most won't even recognise I am muslim. I wear timberland boots, ecko t shirts, fitted hats, jungle hats, and so forth. I also switch to button ups, khakis, and adidas. I really don't like america, but this is all I know. I don't think I can function properly out of the states because I was built upon this land. I don't even think I can function properly out of NY. I don't think like most. I don't even spit on the earth bc I feal I am disrespecting her if I did so. I only drink water, tea, and milk.

The stereotypes of american are we are lazy, fat, arrogant, stubborn, racist, know it alls, the best, and so forth. And 85% of the time, these stereotypes are correct. But not all americans.

PEACE! SALAM! SHALOM!

From Denmark, loud, abrasive, and irritating, and demand that everything be written and spoken in English. Style and fashion sense is markedly different. Don't handle alcohol as well as many Europeans do and in bars and clubs it's not hard to spot the wasted Americans. There is no doubt that Americans play up to the myriad stereotypes that Europeans harbor. Stick out like sore thumbs when traveling abroad.

Although extremely nationalistic, we strive for the quality of existence that Americans hold. People who have been to the United States love it and a lot want to visit or live in the States.

I think other's on this list have stated: loud, arrogant, obnoxious and "uncooth", meaning not having an appreciation for the higher things in life, like fine art, ballet, etc. However, these are steriotypes and not necssearily my own opinion. Also, in Australia we view many American's as not having an appreciation for freedom and justice, as well as people who grab hold of "fads" and "fashions" without really knowing why and mainly because a Hollywood actress told them too. Generally where I come from, steriotypically we do not hold American's in general in high regard mainly because they havent voted President Bush out of office, and have an entire history of covering up the truth (mainly from their own people). Strangely enough, here in Australia we get many documentaries about politics and issues that cannot be shown in the United States (mainly because of the media ownership). Also, here people can say **** whenever they want on radio stations (although not on ALL radio stations), however, Australian's have a greater access to information, if they choose to protect those rights visa ve Media ownership. Australian culture is largely being taken over by American culture; in what we watch on commerical television and particularily in the political arena. And that is scary. For example, I would never want my country to have easy access to firearms, where people can walk into a supermarket and purchase a gun and bullets.

well. the way i see it, americans tend to look down on people with darker skin. i am from singapore and i came to america for 2 months. people used to talk to me like i didnt understad english.
or they would some how think i come from a village from some deserted mountain.
i tell them im from asia and they'd think im poor or very uneducated or something on those lines.

americans are very choosy of what they eat. even the chinese food sold there is not authentic and is very americanized.
they looked at the way my mother cooked the vegetables with dark oyster sauce and refused to even try it. they were like 'it just doesnt look good'. they may not have noticed that they were being rude, but they were.
i dont know. but somehow, after that 2 months in america, i feel that i have lost my respect for the americans.
im sorry to generalize but that was the impressions they gave me.

From Australia, we see americans dominating the world. 75% of our TV shows are American, we compare our currency exchange to the American dollar, all of our fast foods are American. Mc Donalds, KFC, Burger King (here we call it Hungry Jacks) Pizza Hut, Dominoes. The list goes on and on.

So from where I am in Australia, I see americans as domenating the world.
