Hard question. Two facts.

Fact 1. Stand at the urinal farthest away from all other guys in the restroom.

Fact 2. Do not use the tiny urinal for kids.

When traveling this weekend, I went in a rest area bathroom and there were 3 urinals, and 1 guy on the end, 1 regular 1 next to him, and 1 small, low one on the end farthest away from him. I took the kid's one...Did I do the right thing?

Yes, and you probably gave someone a laugh in the process.

Actually, the short urinal is for men in wheelchairs. You'll see one in every public men's room in the U.S. because of the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
As a plumber, I've installed lots of them. We figure that a guy would have to be pretty gifted to reach one from a wheelchair, but the law's the law.
You did okay.

It is NOT a kids urinal. It is for the well endowed. It's nice and low so you don't get wet. You just made a good impression on those guys, that's all.

The 'kids' urinal was in fact a urinal for the handicapped!

Yeah, whats wrong with using the little urinal? If thats all thats open, then use it, nobody cares. Even if you choose that one when the big one is open, who notices?

I don't recall ever using a urinal... But in my opinion I would say you did just fine... the bathroom is there for that purpose !!
