Why do people get jealous instead of just being happy for someone?
Also, why would some parent EVER be jealous of their offspring?
Again, instead of just being happy for them. It goes along with the thinking of "bettering yoursef" and why some parents would want their kid to do just that.

honey cause ppl love to see you fail...they will sit up and talk about negative stuff alnight but the minute something positive is brought up they wanna hurry up and brush that off...i know cause my moms husband spoils her to death with gifts takes her on romantic trips everywhere...ppl dont like that...so it was said him and my mom wouldn't last all because their too happy persons that's ashame...but don't let it get you down what ever your going through *good luck*

I have no idea. I cant imagine any parent that is jealous of their offspring. That is kinda immature on the parents part in my opinion. I wish and hope my children do much much better than I did. I try to teach them right from wrong with hopes that my mistakes learned from the past will be considered when making a similiar decision in hopes they make better decisions thus bettering themselves.

Jealousy is a very normal and common thing in society. If their was no jealousy, there would be no drive to be better than the next. It's a good way to motivate someone.
Although, to not talk lightly about it. It can have it's dark and scary side too. In comes personality disorders that can be hurtful and/or deadly.

There are people out there w major issues- I know some that compete w thieir kids- it is sick and awful- they treat their kid like a sibling-rivlalry and all.some people want every one else to be as miserable as they are- so being happy for someone else- is out-they don;t think or cope normally- or act it. Until they see they have a problem-it won't get fixed.

Some people can not stand it if others are doing well in their life. It may be because they themselves are not doing as well, etc.
Do not let this get to you! Keep doing what you are doing and leading a happy, healthy life and making something of yourself! Their comments, etc. are just their own insecurities!

who knows ...parents need to let go sometimes and realize when the bird leaves the nest there will always be a srtuggle..jealousy is nutsz or so sometimes it feels..

people get jealous cause they really want what you have.....they are jealous cause they just can't believe that its you that have what they want.
