miserable. How do people live there when it is always so muggy and hot? And where would you suggest to stay that is peaceful and inexpensive?

I work in Jakarta, but travel to Bali on business and pleasure frequently. Bali has a dry season, which corresponds to the Australian winter. So in June through September, Bali benefits from some cooler, drier weather spilling over from Australia and this is also the peak tourist season, when Europeans, Japanese and Australians like to travel. From about now until March, it will be "rainy" season and it could be both cooler and more humid, so you are taking your chances. It will be cooler because it is more overcast, but the rain brings the humidity.

Try the attached link for good info on travel to Bali.

Its really hot and humid!
Stay at Bedugul, it nice, calm and cold overthere (it has a lake, hill and mountain view).
Its about 1-1.5 hours from denpasar, but its really nice.
Or stay at Ubud for the country feeling, where everywhere is green and so many art gallery overthere.
Nusa dua is a good choice too but a bit pricey.
Don't stay at Kuta, to crowded and dirty.
The price usually depends on season, don't go on december-january, which usually is really crowded.
Good luck!

I guess Indonesians just get used to it living in tropical country (close to the equator), it's like asking the Russians how do they live in such cold weather. Drink a lot of water and stay out of the sun is what I'd suggest.
