In search of a hobby or something to do to fill downtime, after work.

Yes you absolutely need to get a new hobby, one that consumes a lot of time and that you find very interesting. Good with your hands--try working on cars or cabinetry. Good with your brain? Try taking a part time job as a tax preparer or some other such activity.
Have extra energy? Get a gym membership.

In fact I'd advise a 24/7 gym if they exist in your area, that way if you ever get cravings to go back to drugs at say, like 3am and can't even sleep, you can always go work your butt off and have a hell of a workout then instead then sleep.

Learn how to live sober - one minute/hour/day at a time. Then get into self-exploration. Start making a list of stuff that you like, makes you happy, interests you, always wanted to try if you only got off the couch/bar stool.... Start with the list, then look for opportunities to do those things. Always wanted to sky dive? Go on a kayak trip? Try watercolors? Go for it. If you're involved in a sober group (AA/NA or such), chances are there'll be others like you clueless about what next - band together and take that weekend trip to Vermont & go skydiving. Take risks, live a little, and you'll find reality is the best high. Good luck.

Congrats on going back to work. Do you attend NA?
Spend time with friends who don't use. Go to church.
Go back to school and learn a trade if you don't have one.
Whatever you do, don't work alone and don't work at night, and especially don't work alone at night!

It's a real pain having eighteen hours a day with nothing to do, isn't it? Been there, done that.
I quit my job and got into a different line of work.
I planted flower beds all over the place.
Howled at the moon, cried a lot, beat my fists against walls.
Just anything to break up the old patterns and change the life style. I went back to school and became a nurse.

one step at a time, you start by believing in yourself. You can see if the school has any courses at night like exercising, taking up computer, or stain glass, Most schools have Adult ed. and some great courses. Go to meetings talk to the other people and get feedback. There must be something you like,Stay clean and keep up the good work.

you need to see non drug addicted people, do not sit at home. do not see drug addicts. I deal with many drug addicts and ex drug addicts and if they relapse it is for two reasons they have a person crisies or they hang out with druggies.
it doesn't matter even if you dont like the hobby or you dont belive in god , go do charity work, youth groups , churches join a gym anything.
you have many drug adjudicated behaviors that will take several years to go

No one can tell you how to live your life (with drugs or without them). So you have to find yourself. Think about who you used to be back before it all began...then puruse the parts of you that you like.

Sports, movies, painting....you probably like a bit of high action - scuba diving, parachuting something for adrenal rush.
