Some hypotheses I have heard (but can't give you the exact citation- most are from science shows and science magazines)...
1) Around 2020-2030 some scientists think we will discover life outside of Earth. That would relate to many areas like astronomy and biology obviously and also chemistry.
2) Diseases like AIDS having a consistantly affective "cure"/vaccination. More cancers being "cureable" or totally preventable. TB should be whiped out assuming we ever get our **** together and help the people who need it most
3) Obviously many people think we will have switched over fairly well to another fuel source by that time, it may seem a little fast but we will need to switch soon anyway
4) Genetic engineering and beneficial stem-cell use should be more common and hopefully accepted
5) If we get the funding and see fit we could go to mars around then
6) Our understanding of solar system formation and distribution should change drastically between now and then with all of the extrasolar planets being found and all of the new missions planned related to this.

1. TV pictures will get even better yet with UHDV (Ultra High Definition Video) There are 4,300 lines as opposed to 1,080 lines of horizontal resolution with High Definition. Plus 7,680 pixels per line. High Definition TV now has over 2 million pixels whereas Ultra High Definition will have over 33 million. The pictures will be so lifelike as to be indistinguishable from reality.
2. Smells will start to be incorporated into TV shows and movies. Although there will be smell cartridges that need to be replaced just as inkjet cartridges need to be replaced because it's a chemical that runs out.
3. 3D & holographic television will have taken off by now. It will be 3D television without the stupid glasses. Every pixel will be broken down into sub-pixels where the left eye will receive a slightly different image than the right one. Movie theaters will still require 3D glasses; however, they will be transparent LCD as opposed to the red and blue or plastic ones. The 3D image on televisions can be switched on or off. Therefore, you will still be able to watch TV in 2D if you want.
4. A $4,000 computer will have the computing capability roughly as powerful as the human brain. Video game systems will display graphics that are indistinguishable from TV and movie images.

1) We will have proven the existence of microbial life somewhere in the Solar System probably on Mars. This will coincide with the discovery of liquid water in the same location as the microbial life.
2) Computers will be 100 times faster than they are now. Artificial Intelligence will be a reality. You will be able to converse with your home computer.
3) Nuclear Fusion reactors will be available for generating electricity.

Well done Joverlien.
The only one who has mentioned major innovations in media and communications.
That's where the focus has been going the last decade, and it is not going to stop, with new technology on the shelves every day.
I am afraid that most people are guessing at what they would like to see, rather than opening their eyes and seeing the trends.
