we're staging yet another intervention with my 17 yo cousin because of her weight problems ... and the last 3 have failed (even tho we talked/forced her into therapy each time)... how do you suggest we approach her? this girl doesn't think she has a disease, she loves her anorexic/bulimic "lifestyle" (yes she calls it that)... any ideas?

that's a tough one....people have to be ready to want to help themselves...you really can't force someone into something if their heart and soul aren't into it.....maybe some tough love....like that program on Bravo....everyone gets together and writes a letter to them..have a specialist ready with you and a program ready for that person to go to....then be tough love...no more helping them out....and i know there's a law where I live that if someone is in dangerof hurting themselves by means of drugs/alcohol you can have the Doctor have them commited for help...of course it involves court and a Judges final decision but check into it...ask your own MD or a local health clinic....even free clinics have social workers there to ask this stuff too...(well most of them do). good luck

Very carefully. An eating disorder is much more than it is. It goes far deeper than anyone can imagine. Much of the time, there is an issue such as depression involved. All you can do is try and try again. Don't accuse though, you need to be very understanding. Let her know that it's not her fault and that you don't want her to hurt herself. Bulimia and anorexia have consumed so many lives. It is very dangerous. People don't realize the damage that it does on your body. Good luck!!

Get her some subliminal music. It is only a few dollars and you can get her a self confidence tape to go with the weight loss and just tell her that you are trying a whole new make over fitness program.

if you have tried to intervene 3 times, and no success then I think you should forget it, leave her alone or get a pro to intervene..it is a family problem, and the whole family is sick
why put it on one person, how about you all go to treatment and share this..instead of putting it all on her as though she is the problem..no wonder she is doing what she is doing?
you alll need an intervention

try an intervention, show her the real true effects of it and how much you care about her and that you can't lose her Also look at some eating disorder sites and see from her perspective how she feels and views the situation

If she doesn't mind being fat and eating a lot then let her, it's her body to do what she wants with. You can try and persuade her all you want, but I think it's wrong to force your ideals and the way you think someone should live on anyone.

I took pictures of my friend in her bathing suit and showed them to her in comparison to a fashion model - mean, but effective. She saw the HUGE difference and was then willing to accept help.
