You shouldn't change the way you are. Everyone listens to music of there own taste.Listen to what you want and not whatever one els does makes u your own person not an outcast. Be who you are not a follower.

I am 55.
I grew up in the NYC radio market.
WABC and WMCA were top 10 stations.....
1010 WINS for a while to.
Then there were the black stations....R&B....at the high end of the dial....1500-1600khz
there was another station that played broadway show tunes.
Another station played Tony Bennett, SInatra, Andy Williams, Jerry Vale...that genre.
Then there were "hillbilly stations".
My old man kinda liked that stuff.
There were jukeboxes in restaurants and bars.
exposed to all kinds of music.
And can listen to stuff from any of those genres.
You should NEVER have to coerced to "like" a particular kind of music to be accepted .
What the hell is that about??
rigidity in musical tastes strikes me as truly dumb.
Who are these guys??They some kind of trendsetters?
screw those "hipper than thou" types.
note: listened to fifties rock and r&b and all the stuff in the sixties . The hippy stuff. Then into the seventies.
I can listen to gordon lightfoot and the next thing I play can be zappa.
I can listen to CREAM then I can listen to Johnny Cash.

Dude look at my username being an outcast isn't a bad thing. It's fun to be who you are amd not worry about what other people think. Cuz if you change for friends what's gonna be left of you? I know how you feel but you have to stay strong and be and do whatever you want to cuz if your' friends are trying to change you get new ones cuz my friends would never do that to me.

Be yourself and do what you feel. Don't be influenced by your friends. You've got to make a space for yourself, you know, just do your thing and no one should complain, cause they wouldn't have the right to do that.
