She has very fair skin, and I wouldn't put any harsh chemicals on her face!!

you should try neutrogena products... like first wash your face with the oil free acne wash, then with the astringent then after that wipe the toner on your face... it really helps.. Since im 13 and going trhough puberty my mom does that routine and it really helps.

I used to get bad acne as a teen(I'm 25 now) I would wash my face with a washcloth or now they have neutrogena face cloths that are great. Then after I dry my face I would put Clearsil On the Spot treatment all over my face. It definitely helped control the oil and cut down the pimples. The only time I brokeout is when I went to bed without washing my face. Recently though, I've discovered Arbonne which is AMAZING. It's like Mary Kay or Avon in that it's a network marketing company but it's worth it. Granted my acne now is different than ten years ago but my face cleared right up with their face cleanser. It is 100% natural so it may not result in the irritation that proactive can give.

A cheaper solution to Proactive is Clean and Clear Advantage available at Wal-mart or Target. It comes in purple and white packaging. I use the cleanser every morning and night. I use the moisturizer at night. The moisturizer is important because it has acne medication in it, plus dry skin can cause blackheads and more acne. The acne treatment that comes in a silver tube is great for treating the specific trouble areas. I highly recommend giving it a try. Just tell your daughter to be religious with her face washing and make sure that she rinses all the cleanser off. I also use a facial scrub (st.ives apricot for trouble skin) every other day after my cleanser. Clean and Clear uses a different type of medication than Oxyclean or those other popular acne products. The medication in Clean and Clear is much more gentle and great for young sensitive skin.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

I used Mary Kay cleanser as a teen, and it worked really well. And those facial masks will deep clean her pores. Mary Kay has masks and also Biore(<===cheaper, can get at Wal-Mart) I also make sure I use a toner, something like Seabreeze, to cut the oil. And those spot acne lotions when you feel one coming on, sometimes head it off before it can fully develop. Drink lots of water too! It will hydrate the skin and keep it healthy.

Start with some benzoil peroxide lotion and have her apply it gently, with a q-tip, to each spot. Encourage her to practice good skin hygiene by washing her face morning and night.

I am very skeptical of all the expensive OTC remedies for acne. This stuff costs a lot of money for very unsure results. Some of them cause allergic problems and make the user's skin worse. If your daughter's skin gets worse, and if you think that her skin is affecting her sense of self-worth, it would make sense to take her to a dermatologist and get professional treatment before the situation deteriorates. No need to make a big fuss over it with the kid, just tell her, "We're going to take care of this so it doesn't bother you."

The first 2 were good information. Proactive will be the best, but use the whole line. The clinique mask is excellent though for treatment, not everyday maintenance.

I have had mild acne for years and I'm using proactiv now but it seems to work mediocre. Best advice is to take her to a dermatoligist or at least her primary because if she is getting signs of acne at 12 then it could get much worse.

Acne could last for years. I'm afraid she'll have to try things until she finds something that works well for her. Basically a gentle cleanser, an exfoliant, and a lotion. Three basic steps. Oil free products are better. I personally use Dr. Murad's line of products. I purchase them on line. If you can afford it they work great.

I know several people who used proactive and it BURNED their skin. If it isn't terrible acne, try something like Mary Kay's Velocity. It's geared toward teens. MK also has a great blemish-control toner and acne gel. Go to www.marykay.com to find a rep near you if you don't already know one.
