The ancient classics are in Sanskrit, as many Occidental ones are in Latin. These are dead languages but useful to scholars. I started to study Hindi, but the teacher quit.

Vedas were written in the ancient Indian language of Sanskrit (Sanskruta) compiled by Sage Vyasa around 1500 B.C.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they are in Sanskrit.
