I started going out with the guy that has been my good friend for the past year and a half It was as if we were brother and sister but that was only because he had a girlfriend, but we always shared more than friendly feelings. We started going out and everything was wonderful, we shared things that I've never shared with anyone else in my entire life, it was more than physical things, it was just so amazing, we could talk for six or seven hours at a time. A couple weeks ago he broke up with me with the excuse that it was akward for him because we were such good friends before and it felt as if we were still friends even when we were going out. This isn't what I felt. But I just want to know if the reason isn't because of what he said... could it be that it's something else? He said he was going to ask me out again but when it stopped being akward and that I was all he's ever wanted ina girl... I just don't know what to do. I'm so in love with him and it's killing me without him

A successful relationship is based not just on love, it is based on friendship. If you have a friendship first and you can talk for hours, then you have connected at all levels, emotional, and intellectual...not too sure about the physical, but it sounds like you would have the perfect relationship if you have connected at ALL levels. Maybe he needs to be reminded that his awkwardness is probably because he sees relationships differently to you. You need to remind him that friendship is so very important in every single successful relationship. Your soul mate has to be your best friend, your love, your lover, your confidante.....It sounds to me like you have that with him.

Talk to him, tell him that he needs to lose the awkwardness and see that your friendship is one hell of a strong basis to keep this relationship alive.

I dont understand how he could feel that way with you because it is very odd if you have such a wonderful friendship and have feelings for each other why he would feel so awkward.

You obviously both have the ability to communicate effectively with each other....use that communication to get to the bottom of why he really feels this way. Obviously if you can talk to 6 or 7 hours at a time, it would be easy to put your point accross...make him understand that what you have is what every person dreams about having......Friendship, communication, love, feelings....Its perfect....make him see that. If he doesnt see it, then I believe there is another reason why he is saying that he is feeling awkward.

You answered your own question in your very first sentence.

It was as if we were brother and sister

Even though you were able to get over those feelings, of it being like brother and sister, great friends......It sounds like he may not have been able to.
Do not set and dwell, time heals all wounds. You are young, there is someone out there for you. Who knows in time he may see you in a different light, but for right now he has told you how he feels and you need to accept that.
