Kyle has been my best friend since as long as I can remember. Yesterday I slept over his house and we slept in the same bed since the blow up mattress was broken. When I woke up in the morning, I was lying on my side and Kyle was directly behind me with his arm across me. It felt really good and I put my arm around his back and went back to sleep. Kyle woke me up later and we never said anything about it. Even though we both have gfs, I'm feeling very wierd about this whole thing. I've never felt like this about a boy before and probably wouldn't have reacted the same way had it been a different boy. Is this gay or is this a normal thing?

No reason to feel weird. It was not gay since no sexual activity took place. You have a strong friendship with him and feel comfortable with him.

First things first. "Gay" and "Normal" are not opposing ideas (see your last sentence).

As for being a gay situation or not, it's hard to tell. Human beings crave connection and closeness with other human beings. I know society always tries to make it a sexual connection...hence you wondering if it is in fact a gay behavior.

Maybe it just was comforting to be close to a friend...I don't know because I don't know you. But, you mentioning you have "never felt like this about a boy" leads me to believe you have lingering feelings after the fact, which means you've got some personal exploration to do.

Figuring out your feelings...that's part of living. The only advice I can give you is to try and not label your feelings right away as "gay" or "straight." Just let them be. You will figure it out.

It could be possible that what you felt was just a special bond that you have with your long-time friend... and it was embodied in a way that "straight" men are often too homophobic to express. (You could often see two straight women snuggling in bed and they're perfectly comfortable with it.)

However, if this embrace brought about sexual excitement in you, it could mean htat you have latent homosexual feelings or urges, or just that as a teenager, your body unconsciously reacts to any sort of sexual tenderness. Either way, it is perfectly normal, and doesn't necessarily mean that you are gay. Just be aware of these feelings, and if they occur again, don't try to deny them or push them away. Talk to your friend about it... if he truly is a good friend, the two of you should be able to discuss it freely and openly.

But above all else, don't do anything you might regret later, and be careful.

Hello!! :o) Nothing you and Kyle did sounds 'gay' to me. You and Kyle have been best friends for a long, long time. No doubt you both love each other. [As best friends do] And when we love someone it feels good to be physically affectionate with them. It's that sort of affection that many guys - STRAIGHT GUYS - really miss out on because of the silly fear that ANY affection MUST mean they're gay. It doesn't mean that at all. It's just as important for guys to be physically affectionate with each other as it is for girls to be physically affectionate with each other. It's horribly unfair that in our society - when girls are affectionate with each other - they're just great friends. But when guys are affectionate with each other - they're GAY. Don't buy into that. Have a great day!! Craig!! :o)

i think its adorable. Most likey i would say you aren't gay, unless you have had sexual fantasies about him. I would just have to agree that you are very comfortable with an old friend that you have. Noting to even be questioned. I mean, I have a guy friend i have known since 3rd grade, i have slept in the smae bed with him an di have woke up next to him, holdin him, cuddling him. it makes no difference as long as youre comfortable and happy. Who cares? you have a gf, and you love her prolly. but you also have a Best friend and you love him, whether its like he is family or a lover, who cares as long as you are happy and comfortable.

First of all, I would like to tell all of you who answered, you're wonderful, accepting people. I'm gay and when I had a similar experience in my youth, (in the 1970's) people would not have been so accepting! And we would have been horrified to even express such an experience. So, my respect goes to you who asked the question. To all of you, I wish you a very fulfilled, life full of acceptance and love.

hmmm...well, i have a lot of gay friends...lol. So, I'll try to help you. My best friend, whos gay, something very similar happend to him when he found out
he was gay....He was confused about it at first, but realized he like men very much. But what you're going through doesn't necessarily mean you're gay, you could be Bisexual, or you could just have a weird reaction. Us girls curl up together all the time. lol. Maybe you just have some feminine qualities. No biggy.

:-)

Hope I helped you out.

Not necessarily gay. You and he could simply just been showing signs of affection which there is nothing wrong with. He is your best friend and you have nothing to worry about.
