X would equal 11/3 because the -8/3 would become a positive 8/3 when you moved it to the other side of the equation.

X=8/3+1
X=8/3+3/3
X=11/3

If you meant for the 8/3 to modify X, then you really should've written it as -8/3X=1. If that was the case, then the answer would be:
