I have not officially been diagnosed with anxiety, but have been known to have an anxiety attack when things get to be too much. As nervous as I was before I went into labor, amazingly once you get to the hospital you will be to busy to be nervous. It is amazing how quickly the time goes too. You also go through a bit of a strange sensation when you are in labor where your brain almost goes numb and it is difficult to think about anything. It is difficult to describe, but I think it all has to do with your body dealing with the pain. I am a few days away from delivering my second child and have been getting nervous playing the waiting game and doing my best to talk myself out of a panic attack (I am the type of person who does not like surprises and likes to have things scheduled and planned and since I have no control over when I go into labor it is quite frustrating). You may also want to mention your condition and concerns with your dr. so that he is prepared to help you deal with what is going on. He may recommend having some kind of medicine/pain killer to help you relax on the big day. Try not to worry, labor is really not as bad as some people would like you to believe. Just try to focus on getting the baby out and that it will all be over with soon.

Now, my only experience with IED--Intermittent Explosive Disorder--is a book I read, in which high school sweethearts move in together when they start university, and the woman hits her head when falling off a ladder at some point. The man is a doctor and can tell she has a concussion. But can't see the damage that has been done on the inside. The woman then develops IED, and the story tells of the man handling this along with training to be a doctor and such. Extremely angsty, as you may have guessed. But the facts in the book are real, so I'll take a shot. IED is a mental illness that characterized by oneself experiencing episodes of extreme rage and anger, in which person and objects surrounding can be hurt because the person may throw things and such while in the episode. An event does not have to occur for the episode to happen, the person will just burst in to spontaneous episodes of rage and anger, correct? To be honest, I think it is quite wrong of the psychiatrist--second opinion--to diagnose you with this because of you throwing your cell phone at the wall, and under the influence of side-effects to a medication you are taking for bipolar. IED sufferers don't snap because of a reason, they snap because they snap. And it is usually much worse than throwing a cell phone against a wall. A diagnoses of IED is much worse than one of bipolar, so I would have thought the psychiatrist would have taken more care in diagnosing. However, if you are suffering from IED, you need to be on the right course of treatment for it. I, personally, don't think that you are suffering from IED, but I am just a fourteen year old, not a proffessional. My advice is talk to your psychiatrist and explain this all. You need to understand what you have and how to treat it, before it gets even worse. Good luck!

Haven't been through it yet. I have panic attacks pretty bad and am due in Jan. so I know how ya feel. I am worried about the same thing. The further I get along the more I worry but I have to keep telling myself it isn't going to help the baby, and that everything is ok. Deep breathing helps alot also. If you need someone to talk to you can email me. Good luck.
