Yes, thats when a receiver or running back drops the ball after the quaterback attempts to pass it to them. A caught ball is called a reception.

Any player, mostly quarterback, throws the ball forward. But the ball was not "caught" by any player and it touched the ground or out of bounce. It is an incomplete pass. Note: Caught means a demonstrated possession and control of the football.

So it is an failed attempt of passing.

When it happens, the clock stops.

In football it's when the quarterback throws the ball and the dummy on the other end drops it. (overpaid hack) In normal life, it's every pass I attempt on the girl next door.
