Taxation is the 16th Amendment to the Constitution. The reason it is hated so much is because everyone thinks "the rich" don't pay tax. What they don't know is that the "rich" invest in starting businesses, including banks, law firms, universities, agriculture, oil - all the things YOU need to live in America. It is not as if they take their hordes of cash and stick it under the mattress. They send their kids to better schools and universities ( which supports higher education, professors and your favorite football team ), they drive nice cars ( which supports salespeople, finance people, mechanics ) and live in nice homes ( which supports all the craft trades like plumbers, electricians and construction workers ). So before you knock the tax system because you think the rich don't pay, consider all the tax they pay on the above things I just listed here - everyone of them - and tell me the rich don't pay their fair share. If anyone thinks the 'rich' don't work for their money or don't invest it back into the economy, which means YOUR job, then they are just plain ignorant.

Now you know the difference from being a democracy and a republic, years ago our elected officials passed the Income Tax amendment ,if we were a democracy the people would have voted on it.

The income tax is legal under the Constitution. I forget the Amendment. What is not legal is the implementation. It violates the equal protection clause. It is unconstitutional to charge someone a higher tax rate because they make more.
Fair Tax all the way.

No,if my memory serves it was enacted to pay for World war 1 I believe. and still is constitutional. We are a democratic republic and our Representatives vote is supposed to be the peoples vote. A democracy everybody would have to vote on everything, that would be havoc.

It might be but do you really want to stop supporting our army to defend us? Maybe you think you would like to stop all government add programs?
What are you going to do when you get older and have no money to live on being the government will not have the money to help you?
Never mind you said you wanted to stop funding our army so by the time you get oldenough to need SS you will be dead from being converted by the sword.
Enjoy your retirment..

yes and so is the whole central bank scheme imo ... its a settup to make private profit for powerful bankers ... there is no need for income tax or the federal reserve ... congress could assume all monetary powers and the govt could finance itself seeing as our currency is fiat and it is just printed paper ...why have a bank that finances our govt and WE pay the interest on the loans with income tax? why have a middle man? theyr just making money off of the whole of the US population and plunging the nation deeper into debt by the second .... yes, kill it ...give money powers back to congress and the people to whom they properly belong.

I like to think so. I'm still trying to figure out property tax and inheritance tax...which just seems like legislated theft.

absolutely not. but i agree to get rid of it, as long as the questioner can guarantee to replace the funds that fund so many life sustaining programs from infastructure to health care and the elderly.
