I like Americans, they are a very free country and the people are outgoing and open minded! There are fat and dumb people in every country! Americans are never afraid to go full throttle with life and some people just don't understand that.

Does the date 1776 mean anything to you? After that you did it bigger, not always better, we have to be honest. You got away, my friend. For that, Britain will never forgive you. And you desecrated the legacy they left behind! How dare you spell phonetically? Even though it makes a lot more sense? Who put the u in colour? Why? If it were 'hue' it would make sense. But 'u'? Stand up, America! Stop being browbeaten by the descendants of your colonists! Your culture has been enriched by many nations, not just one. Sometimes, ridicule is the only bastion left to the defeated. As for liking, does that really matter?
People who generalise are only showing their ignorance and would you really care about the opinion of some narrow minded person?
What most people hold against America is the fact that they hold such a powerful place in the world order of things. Most people did not want a war in Iraq but in went Bush, very quickly followed by Mr Blair. What's the difference there, then? Be careful in your choice of President because it affects us all.
Other than that, I say that America sounds like a cool place, judging by the word from my relatives who live there. They wouldn't live anywhere else now. So stop wimping about why the Brits don't like you. I've given you the reason. One last thing. You may be better looking than the Brits but don't you ever put the Irish into that equation! We got a belt of the Vikings! My kids are two six foot, blue eyed, Gods and Godesses (boy and girl)!
Be proud and stop apologising to people who are trying to undermine you.

It's not Americans as such that I have a problem with, it's America that most Brits (actually most of the world!) have a problem with with.
Your 'War on Terror' has dragged us all into a war, which shows no sign of ending in the foreseeable future. Terror attacks have increased in recent years, as has religious intolerance and fear of other cultures, to the point where two Muslim gentlemen were taken off an aircraft because they were smiling and laughing with each other!
The British mainland suffered years of IRA bombings and killings, and where did they get a large amount of their funding and weapons from? NORAID, and American organisation that raised funds for the IRA! And don't get me started on where the Taliban got the money and weapons to get the Russians out of Afghanistan!
The world would be a safer and more peaceful place if America just kept it's nose out of everybody elses business, and stopped trying to force 'democracy' on the rest of the world! Just go away and leave us all in peace!
A Quick joke to lighten the mood....
What's the difference between a British tank and an Iraqi tank?
You don't know? That's ok, nor do American fighter pilots!

Its not about being fat and dumb per se. Its got more to do with arrogance and the utter belief that America is right and that everyone else should tow the line. American greed is the real issue. Its citizens come across as dumb because they seem to know so little about the world beyond their shores. How can you have a balanced view of anything when you know nothing outside America? When I listen to Americans on the tube in London I cringe at how ignorant they sound, whilst trying so hard to look important. Very sad.

I am a Brit and I lived in the USA for four years off and on - Americans are up themselves - money is king - the system tells you that you are the best so you believe it - you think you have the American Dream but not many people actually achieve the dream - but it is everyones dream to have enough to live and to have a good life regardless of where you are born. Blair is our only American unfortunately he conned us and many voted for him as I did when he first won to get rid of the evil Tories - but then the last two times I knew what Blair was and I did not vote for the liar why do people vote for liars - anyway back to the American issue - not all american people are bad but the American system is bad - even though you believe it is the best system and that you have the right to bomb everyone into your ways. The only PEOPLE to drop the Atomic Bomb - People who think you are so spirutal and yet so messed up. Polluting the planet more than any other People.
etc etc - so much but yes there are individual Americans that are good people but the American system stinks - built on stealing land from Native Americans and built on Slavery and built on the biggest Con in Human History - Americans think you are free but you will never be free - the trouble is the rest of the World is becoming Americanised and soon we will all be in chains - God help us all and stop the Hell on Earth that is our Futures.

I'm a brit living in the Philippines, and I have loads of American mates, all nationalities who travel and open their eyes to other lifestyles and customs, are ok in my book.
What I can't stand is the way the English language is slowly being turned into American. I consider myself to be one of the last bastions of the English language in this country, and constantly correct text for people. I also change spell check on any computer I find to check in English English.
Unfortunately, another problem for this country, which is American influence, is the predilection for the locals to consume vast quantities of fast food, which is slowly having an adverse effect on health. Entire levels of shopping malls are smothered with every type of fast food imaginable.
Glad you've travelled and seen a bit of the world. I started 30 years ago and have had a wonderful life thus far.

Isn't it funny? I'm in South America and here some people have the same feeling but respect to the US.
All around the world you're gonna find different kind of people. Some of them good, some bad.
When it comes to the task of understanding ourselves and our world, i think we pay too much attention to others opinions and too little to our particular feelings.
We're in the same world, and like the colors of the rainbow, together we can do something more beautiful then separate. We can learn from others and keep the best feelings of our experiences.

Your not a typical American though are you?
You have travelled more than 50 miles from your home.
I went to the states and was astounded at how little they know about the world outside America.
We even had them believing that I lived in the castle next door to Lady Diana and we all stop to have tea and crumpets at 4pm every day.
Come on and be honest, you have no history and the majority of Americans will never venture further than the nearest lake for their vacation.
Your news coverage gives the impression that America covers three quarters of the planet and Europe is a tiny Island.

I think all of the other countries are just jealous of us! The U.S. is superior to mosts other countries, except Japan, of course. I'm not Japanese American or anything, but Japan has to be the best country ever! I admit other countries have better healthcare and education systems, like Japan, South Korea, Canada, Australia, the UK, German, well anywhere in Europe pretty much, but other than that, the U.S. is pretty good. Other countries are just jealous!

i was sitting in a quiet airport lounge and a brash, loudly dressed lady with a new york accent sat beside a foreign guy who spoke quite good English. for 20 minutes all she did was boast about all of the electronic gadgets her and her two kids had with them and how she could order any kind of food at 3 am in new york. she failed to ask the guy anything about himself or where he was from. he looked at me as a cry for help but he was too polite to walk off.
you are probably an okay kind of person but people would not remember you as i remember her. many people stereotype Brits abroad as all being soccer thugs so you aren't on your own.
