I had that. Go to your optometrist and have him look at your eyes. There is something in your eye that can tear loose and cause you to go blind. The flashes are symptoms of that. They checked my eyes and fortunately it wasn't tearing loose, something else was going on and I was okay. The thing is, if it is tearing loose (I think it's the retina, but I can't remember for sure) you'll start losing your sight until they stop it surgically and it can happen fast. You should see an optometrist immediately. Hopefully, it won't be anything serious, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

The following are direct quotes from the web page link I have included. PLEASE see a doctor right away as your vision is in danger!

"The following may be indications of potentially serious problems that might require emergency medical attention:

Sudden loss of vision in one eye;

Sudden hazy or blurred vision;

Flashes of light or black spots;

Halos or rainbows around light;

Curtain-like blotting out of vision; and

Loss of peripheral (side) vision.

If you notice any signs of potential eye problems, see an eye doctor for a complete eye exam. Even if you have no signs, regular eye exams are recommended—especially for those with some chronic health conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Early detection and treatment can be the key to preventing sight loss."

It means there is something seriously wrong with you and you should get to a doctor. Sounds like you're on the verge of passing out for some reason.
