this is the only question i do not understand why i got wrong i wrote
9e8 for one sig fig
8.5e8 for two sig figs and
8.51e8 for three sig figs
plz help me!!

Those are perfect. I just did them on my calculator in scientific mode by typing in the number*1 and hitting equals. My answers would be exactly like yours, which are right.

My only other thought might be that you needed to have it written as 9 x 10^8 and 8.5 x 10^8 and 8.51 x 10^8 instead of using the e. Or maybe you needed a capitol E, but that really shouldn't matter.

Scientific notation uses base 10. "e" is the natural logarithm. e=2.718281828
thus you were close.
9 x 10 to the eighth power

8.5x10 to the eighth power

______ 8
8.51x10

you get the idea

Your answers are right - the only thing is the "e" should be E, otherwise you run into explanations like the answerer before me.
