how good and effective is automotive touch up spray paint?

Good, order the right color paint and it will come close to matching your paint. It won't be exact but it will be close.
Effective, depends on the person applying it. Spraying the paint is the last of many steps. Clean, sand, prime, sand, prime, sand, clean, tape, spray. Do it right and it will hardly be noticable. Do it wrong and it will look worse than it did before you started.

duplicolor spray works awesome.

dealer touch up is the closest but if you dont know or have never done it dont expect it to look like nothing ever happened
